Nirvana in a Nutshell

NIR-VA-NA
A state of bliss, oblivion.  An ideal condition of rest, harmony, stability & joy

Founded in 2006 in the heart of Mission Viejo, Nirvana Grille is a quaint California Community Kitchen offering fresh, local fare sourced from area growers and purveyors to ensure the highest measure of quality. Named Nirvana to invoke a feeling of harmony in mind, body and spirit, Nirvana Grille focuses on clean, locally sourced food in a setting of casual, relaxed elegance. In 2008, the addition of the busy downtown Laguna Beach restaurant with a full bar, was added to the Nirvana Grille portfolio.

Committed to offering delicious food and impeccable service, our uniquely fresh menu allows a kitchen full of high-quality ingredients to take center stage. We specify our food as ‘Clean’ California Cuisine. Our ingredients-first philosophy begins at the local level, working closely with purveyors to ensure access to the best-available provisions while changing menus with the seasons. Our menu is composed entirely of all natural meats free from hormones and antibiotics, organic free range Mary’s poultry and  sustainable seafood. For us, it’s all about the food, what we can do to minimize our carbon footprint and overall impact to the environment. At Nirvana Grille, you enjoy the confidence of knowing we are just as thoughtful about what goes in your bodies as our families.

The nuances of American-, French-, Latin-, and local-seasonally influenced fare has earned executive Chef Lindsay Smith-Rosales and Nirvana Grille accolades from both local press and her peers.  Graced with the honor of being on the cover of numerous magazines including Laguna Beach Magazine as one of the ‘Top 4 Restaurants in Laguna’ as well as one of the ‘Top 10 Chefs of Laguna’, as the only female chef on OC Metros’  ‘Top 10 Chefs Under 40 in OC’, and as AAA Westways Magazines’ ‘Top of the Must Recommend List for Orange County’. Named as one of the ‘Culinary Masters’ by the Rooster Foundation and “Great Chefs of Orange County’ by the Kidney Foundation and written about for her culinary and sustainable efforts by numerous publications such as Coast Magazine, Riviera Magazine, Laguna Beach Magazine, Dining Out Magazine, Where Magazine, LA Enquirer, Laguna Beach Independent, Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot, plus rave reviews from Zagat, Yelp, Open Table, iDine and online foodie blogs.  Over the years Smith-Rosales has become renowned for her dedication to, healthy organic ingredients that delight and engage the senses and continues to frequently receive accolades in the press for her dedication and uncompromised efforts to her food, restaurants and outreach to the community.

Smith-Rosales and her husband — Luis Rosales of Ritz Carlton and Montage fame — welcomed Diego, their first child and chef-in-training, in July of 2008, just a few months after the Laguna Beach location opened. With the new culinary challenge of raising a family, the couples responsibility of feeding Diego the best they are able,  translated into everything you will find at either Nirvana Grille locations. In addition to both restaurant locations, the Rosales’ offer their customers full-service on- and off-premise catering to Orange County and its surrounds, and hope to share a little of their Nirvana with you.

As the motto goes around here, “We look forward to feeding you soon!” Lindsay and Luis, and little Diego too!
